Match Report
Farlington School Boys-U16A vs  St Edmund's School
On: Tuesday, 15 Oct 2024
Venue: Away

A dominant display from the U16A team this week, unfortunately, as the result shows, they just could not find the winning goal! Straight from kick off Farlington showed their intent, pressing high up the pitch and winning the 50/50 duels. The game settled down, with a lot of possession being played in the middle of the pitch, both teams were tough to break down with Ollie, Lois and Andrew trying their luck from distance. Farlington looked a threat from set pieces, an area that was looked at in training 2 weeks ago, with Shane having 2 chances going just over. The defence were doing their jobs well, but switched off on one counter attack, the ball going over there heads allowing the striker through on goal and Farlington found themselves 1-0 down against the run of play. A couple of changes at the break meant more of an attacking threat, whilst maintaining control. A big push in training this week was keeping possession and playing out from the back, something the team did brilliantly throughout the game. Picking the ball up under pressure, playing smart passes and driving into space led to chance after chance being created with all of the possession being played in the opposition half. Finally, Andrew struck to level the game. The pressure continued with Ollie and Ben going close. Loic had a free kick on the edge blocked by the wall, the resulting shot went wide and with the last kick of the game Andrew brushed the outside of the post with a great strike from the edge of the area. A tough result to take but a brilliant performance from all involved for Farlington.
