Farlington School Boys-U11A vs  Pennthorpe U11 tournament
On: Wednesday, 13 Nov 2024
Venue: Away

A very competitive and well fought tournament from the U11 team this week. The team got off to a fast start against barrow hills, pressing high up the pitch and controlling the game with some nice possession, passing and moving patterns. The pressure was eventually rewarded with Bailey scoring a well worked goal down the right. A nervy end to the game, but eventually the team got off to the perfect start. Much of the same in the second game against St Edmunds, the team controlled the game well and created some excellent chances through some well worked passing btween Finn, Rafferty, AJ and Bailey. Bailey scored his second of the tournament and a well deserved clean sheet from Thomas helped by Alec and Arthur saw the team get their second win. A tough third game against a Longacre side that pressed well, unfortunately a slow start to this game saw the team 2-0 behind after three minutes. A strong end to the game, with Raff, Finn and Bailey having chances well saved, but this was not enough as the first defeat was inflicted.

Onto the last game, a win and Farlington top the tournament table, anything else would result in finishing second. The team started brightly, with some excellent combinations between Arthur, Raff and Bailey created half chances. The team was calm on the ball in the early stages and played out well, starting with Thomas and Alec. Midway through the game Raff has an audacious attempt from just inside the opposition half ht the crossbar. into the last minute, with the scoreline still 0-0 the team were pushing and pushing for the winner. A great delivery from a corner by Finn was met by Rafferty with his shot well saved and the rebound hitting a defender. Unfortunately, they could not get the win but a very impressive performance and tournament from the team. A second place finish was well earned, and very well played by the team
